Most of my work explores social and cultural life in the region now known as Canada. Currently I am writing a transnational history of Canadian sugar. I am also the author of the books, Retail Nation and Purchasing Power, each of which explore how Canadians have come to be among the world's most voracious consumers. Other writings examine such topics as food, marketing, gender, race, and the writing of history.
